Mark Kwint

(vox, strings, composition, lyrics)

Mark Kwint - AlvenradBorn: 22 september 1985
From: Apeldoorn, Veluwe
Personal: engaged, father of a son, social worker, heathen
Instrument: vocals, guitar

Born in the heart of the Veluwe Mark Kwint grew up as a nature-loving spirit. He discovered heavy metal around the turn of the century and picked up the guitar to learn songs of the originators. Then he noticed the rise of folk metal in Scandinavia and Germany with great interest, for this scene seemed to be a comfortable place for a nature-loving metalhead. It was Vintersorg’s song “Ödemarkens Son” that ignited his desire to make nature inspired metal himself. By doing so he strengthened his roots in the Veluwe and explored the mythical undercurrent of his being through his artistry. Besides being a musician Mark has a skaldic project going on. Also, he loves books and magic plants.

Jasper Strik - AlvenradBorn: 30 March 1987
From: Lørenskog, Norway
Personal: married, father of a daughter, web designer
Instrument: keyboards (Hammond, piano, Mellotron), vocals

Although he was born in Norway, Jasper Strik has a Dutch pedigree. Landing on the Veluwe in 1991, he harbours love for both the Dutch woodland and Scandinavian landscapes. Since he started learning to play the piano at the age of 8, he tried various keyboard instruments. Jasper started composing halfway through his teens, around the same time he discovered symphonic metalbands like Nightwish and Amorphis. Some years later he worked his way back through musical history towards the classic rock and prog from the 70’s with all the keyboard riches they hold, especially loving the warm sounds of the Hammond organ and Mellotron. He received his Bachelor of Music degree in 2009, focusing his course on composition and music production. As a musician, Jasper has particular attention for arranging and music production. Also, he loves his coffee and dark beers.
